Frank's COL Announcement Final.jpg

Frank Santos Reyes Jr., 86, of Hayward, CA, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in the Philippines as Floro S. Reyes Jr., he bravely made his way to the U.S. and changed his name to Frank (chosen from his love of Frank Sinatra), where he and his late wife, Nona Anne Pangelinan, raised their beloved Tres Marias—rooting the Reyes name in Hayward. A devoted husband, father and friend, he was a relentless tennis player known for his youthful spirit, steady hands, green thumb, soulful singing, and deep love for family.

He believed in hard work, providing for others, doing things yourself, and keeping quiet until you knew what you were talking about. He could fix just about anything—with whatever he had lying around.

In his final days, Frank never missed a Sunday at church. He showed up for worship like it was karaoke for Jesus – singing his heart out, getting in some heavenly practice.

He is survived by his partner in life, Janet Responde; his daughters, Trudy, Angela, and Tricia; his son, JP; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven siblings.

Based on Frank's wishes, there will not be a viewing. He will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in Elk Grove, California on June 9 at Elk Grove Park Pavilion.

The family will then bring his ashes to the Philippines -where his heart is.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity in his name.

Philippines 2020

My deepest condolences to you Tricia, Angie and Trudy, and JanJan & JP. 🕯️😔

Here are a few photos from when my parents (Mark & Rose) visited Uncle Frank back in February of 2020.

I have so many fond memories of Uncle Frank and Palm Place, which was like our own Ellis Island. Everyone was welcome, and it seemed like there was never a dull moment, especially with the undeniable presence of Uncle Frank.

One of my favorite moments with my dad.

We both had El Nido, Philippines on our bucket list. I'm so grateful we got to experience it together.
